Garmin premium HR strap, cracked sensor, whose fault?
3 Attachment(s)
Hello,
my HR sensor stopped working properly and I found a crack at one side. Bought it new about 3,5 years ago, used 150, maybe 200 times. Can't really remember dropping it or abusing it in any way, I'm quite careful about electronics as I want them to show numbers correctly :) I remove the sensor each time after using to rinse or wash the strap, and always start removing from the same side (the one thats cracked) because the strap sits comfortably in the hand. I was not particulary careful removing it, and now I notice that each time I remove it the plastic bends until it snaps off and my finger lifts the top layer from the bottom (my finger doesn't fit under to lift just from the bottom, I tried to show it in the picture). It's not under warranty anymore, so Garmin here in Europe says just buy a new strap and sensor (they can't even sell just the sensor). Well, I can probably repair it with some silicone or glue and buy a new one when it fails for good. Just I feel that it's the build that is precipitating this type of crack... Otherwise the sensor and strap still looks like new. Anyone had similar problems? Thanks! |
never seen that but I have learned that the HR sensor is a throw away item unfortunately There is a store here in the US that will sell the sensor "pod" but its just as economical to buy the whole works.
