Suggestions on stem mounted cell phone holder

I bought a cheap poorly designed stem mounted cell phone holder and first ride with it and just 7 miles in I went over a bump on pavement and the phone broke from underneath. Need new phone now. Any suggestion on a good reliable stem mounted cell phone holder. Thanks

Quad lock seems to get good reviews. I now just throw the phone in a back pocket but i used to use a universal mount from amazon and I crashed one day and phone went flying. I figured my pocket would not do any worse than that.

Most of my friends have Quad Locks and I haven't heard any complaints.

I used a Delta mount for a year or so but don't bother with a phone mounted on the bike any more. The phone stays in my pocket. I got a cheap but good basic wireless bike computer to track speed, average, distance, etc.

But the Delta mount is really secure and not too expensive. Even if it somehow popped off the frame that surrounds the phone would protect it from most impacts. The Quad Lock is minimalist and won't offer any additional protection, unless combined with an OtterBox or something similar.

If I need to consult the phone for maps, or take a call or text, etc., I always pull over. I know some folks who talk and text while riding but I'm not that coordinated.

I've seen only one phone dropped from a Quad Lock, and I'm not sure it was the mount's fault. For one thing, the phone was huge, close to a tablet in size. Way too big to be practical on a bike. And I'm not sure the rider had secured the phone properly. Everything about that particular ride was hinky. It was a new group to me, and when I noticed too many folks half wheeling and overlapping wheels, I dropped to the back and stayed a couple of bike lengths behind. Sure enough, a couple of folks tangled and crashed, including the young lady with the gigantic phone. I'm not sure whether the crash caused the phone to pop off, or the phone popped off and caused the crash.

We installed the Delta stem mount on our touring bikes last year. This model goes underneath the stem cap.
Worked great on our trip across Europe.
Two "upgrades" I did. Replaced the time screw with SS and added Threadlock.

Cool

K edge has CNC mounts adapt your phone case to use the same fittings as your typical GPS uses?

BTW, stem mounts for threadless stems bolt to the top of the stem through the stem cap bolt.

For quill stems you'll need a clamp that goes around the stem. Some of those are really designed for clamping to the handlebar and won't orient the phone in portrait/vertical mode when mounted on the stem. The Delta mount for my old iPhone 4s was really intended only for handlebar mounting, not on the quill stems of my bikes.

Some phone mounts include both. Some don't.

Sorry to hear about that. That's usually what happened to a phone when buying a cheap mount. Just remember the value of your phone when buying a mount. As far as I know, Quadlock, rokform and Iottie and SP-CONNECT make special mount and phone case for a bike.
