Cycliq Fly6 and Giant D-Fuse
 

I've recently bought a Cycliq Fly6 for commuting which to my surprise the mounting system isn't quite as good as I was expecting and only comes with adapters for round and aero style seatposts.

Unfortunately Giant's D-Fuse seat post is neither shape and I was wondering if anyone has managed to fit one of these or any other lights to the proprietary post.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I would rather not just bodge it.

A saddle rail mount might work. I have used both post-mounted and saddle rail mounted. Just make sure the mount is secure whichever you choose. The constant jarring from bumps on the road might cause the mounting to come loose or even break. And if it breaks you've no way of knowing where it broke. I speak from personal experience.

Look at the 3d printed mounts discussion. A guy in there does mounts for all sorts of things. He may have already done one that will solve your problem.

Maybe you already tried this, but would rubber bands or zip ties do anything?

Or a paperclip and some bubble gum.

The first gen Cycliq Fly6 mounts use a rubberband mount. You should be able to attach it, but it would be easier for a reverse tear drop.

If I was going to do it for a longterm application, I'd hunt for some heavy rubber or foamish stuff, and cut it into a V, and glue to the mount.

I'm not sure what I'd use for the donor material. I've found some high density foam cubes at thrift stores in the past. Ahhh... "Yoga Blocks".

I need to dig out my second gen Fly6 to see if something looks promising.

Cycliq sells different length rubber bands for their First Gen Fly6 lights, but I don't know if they're long enough. And, unfortunately for replacements, one must buy the whole mounting kit, not just the rubber bands. :(

I use the GOPRO seat rail mount and the Cycliq adapter. Works well

I have a plan that I think will work with this.

I have made an adapter to fit to the flat of the seatpost out of polymold. When I tested it, all worked well and it didn't seem to want to move.

Only issue is that I bought the Fly6 second hand and it only came with the aero strap so currently waiting for a standard strap to get it all secured and working.
