What is this tape on the battery?
I'm working on resurrecting this old HD Radio. It just stopped working with no sign as to why, so I'm looking at the rechargeable battery.
Obviously, yes, the device is meant to be disposable, and time is money etc., but I'd rather learn something while avoiding tossing another electronic device on an already mountainous pile of waste. So I have the thing open and I'm looking at this textured silvery tape on the battery (the blue rectangle) and wondering if the tape has any special properties. Heat-dissipating? RF shielding? Helping the glue under the battery adhere? Just curious if anybody knows. Thanks. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...931fb5b81a.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9386bf6962.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7f252fdc2f.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...172c2dfa61.jpg |
Looks like padded closed cell tape that used to isolate the battery shrink wrap from the components. Keeps the battery pack from rattling in the case.
