Trying to sort out light options for 8-10 daylight riding hours.
Don’t want to spend an arm and a leg. Rechargeable is preferred, I’ll have access to do so.
Looking for a taillight that will clip to my saddlebag.

Just bought the Ascher Ultra bright front light and rear. Currently, $20 on Amazon.

I am new to biking but pretty picky about lighting. Very impressed with the beam pattern of the LED, low, high or strobe modes, lithium rechargeable battery and what appears to be a diecast shell.

The back is a small but bright multi-mode.

Can’t imagine getting much more value for this price range. Good luck.

Are there no bike shops near where you live or work to see what the options are?

You’re looking for daytime lights to run 10 hours per charge, is that correct?

I’d say that 100 lumens is a good starting point power-wise for daylight marker lights, and of course many would argue more is better, which I don’t dispute. I will say, though, that I’m more focused on having the brightness out back rather than in front, since I’m pretty good at anticipating forward situations and— knock on wood— avoiding such collisions. I like some eye-catching action up front, but it just does not seem as mission critical as a taillamp.

There are tons of headlamp options, especially if one is not aesthetically demanding, so I won’t get into those, but a seat bag clip mount light is probably more challenging, since it seems most are designed for seatpost mounting. One which comes to mind and which I use myself is the Specialized Stix Elite 2, which’ll bang 100 lumens for 10hrs in Power Flash mode and costs $40. It’s really trim and light, too, so I think it’s a good candidate for bag mounting; so many folks run heavy lights which droop on the bag at ineffective— and unattractive— angles, reducing visibility to drivers.

Just wanting to get opinions… I’ve used cygolite and planet bike lights previously. And even cateye years back. I’m interested in what people are using. Appreciate the feedback and info.

I wouldn’t buy anything based solely on some chat room bonehead’s opinion, but with so many options out there and bike shops being unable to carry everything, I appreciate hearing opinions about models I’ve never heard of and follow them up with a little web research.

Many years ago, back before all lights had mode memory, I remember a user here mentioning how frustrated they were with a light I was interested because it lacked that feature. That was a good “save” which I still remember.
