I just tripped across the MagicShine EVO 1700, a battery light which seems to be what I've been waiting for! All i've wanted is a light that's not stick/flashlight form, which mounts on GoPro mount underneath a computer (without being upside down!), and which has a STVZO-like cut-off. The EVO 1700 delivers on all that and more, so I've ordered one up to see what it's about.

Anyone else find it interesting? The styling isn't 100%, but it is funky!

Does it use the mini quarter turn mount?

No, it's a GoPro mount.

it's a wonder as to why they created & use a mini QT mount with some of the taillights they offer. It sure isnt b/c of a space issue as the normal sized QT fits within the area they decided to use the mini QT.

Thanks for stepping up and buying one of these to find out what it's about. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about it after you have had a chance to put it to the test, e.g., how useful you find the beam pattern and brightness to be, and what sort of run time you get.

I don't currently have an "out front and underneath" headlight setup, but the Outbound Lighting Detour looks pretty slick to me for that sort of application.

Yeah, that looks like the best option available...But I don't ride in the dark enough to justify the cost, esp since I'd need to purchase a couple extra mounts. I went with this, which allows the user to loosen a retaining ring in order to turn the front lens 180 degrees (to flip the cutoff) and then run it under the computer. It's fantastic, and the runtimes are 2x longer than advertised.

This is pretty tempting. Will it run while charging?

I bought one about a month ago and like it. It’s a bit touchy to aim since it is a shaped beam. It’s out front, so you have to really tighten down the mount otherwise the weight of the light and Garmin tend to rotate the mount down when you hit a bump. I like the GoPro mount. I run it for about 90 mins on high and then recharge it after every ride
