Bear in mind that any handlebar-mounted camera will rarely, if ever, catch the driver's face unless they're coming directly at the camera. It sits too low for that. In the absence of a collision or actions which cause you to crash, police are unlikely to investigate if you can't identify the driver. That doesn't necessarily require a camera, but without an objective view of the perpetrator it's your word against theirs.

I would say as long as they can get the plate, they can at least follow up on that. We don't use front plates in our province so a rear facing would be less useful. I know in other instances, reporting a plate can get the police to investigate.
