Cygolite DualCross Hack Question

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone here knows if it were possible to take out the Luxeon LEDs from the DualCross, and replace them with some Cree LEDs?

Any idea if this will work?
If it has been done before?
Will it be much brighter than stock?

Grun, I don't know if its been done...but I think it can be....but their "Pro" series that's supposed to come out that is "twice as bright" is using the Cree LED's (I think)....
To swap the LED's out it'll probably cost more then if you just bought the "pro" version...although I'm not sure how much the "pro" version is going to cost.

Are you sure about the cost? I found Cree's for like $10.

If it is simply a matter of soldering that is fine. Quick in, quick out, bang 500000 lumens in the cager's face!

You also do realize that the Dualcross is a luxeon bulb right? And it is as bright as a Cree already right?
Because you are pumping a lot of electricity into the luxeon already!
so if you pumped out that much into a cree! BAM! bright!

yeah it's being overdriven...i know.
and yes, if you put a Cree in there...(I think that's exactly what the "pro" version is) imo.

yeah the bulb itself is inexpensive...its just having someone put it in...would cost at least $50-80
