From what I've heard about these lights, they're a bad deal at any price.

drjava 03-14-08 11:05 AM

I'm curious what is so bad about them.

Heavy battery, outdated LED, cumbersome setups, etc. For less than a $100, buy a Fenix flashlight instead. You get brighter light, lighter and easier setup.

There's reason they are closing this light out, it's a terrible light, and it doesn't sell well.

I looked at that, but from the reviews i've read online there are very few people who like this light, and many who think its a pile of junk.

Sad, because its a good discount!

Long live FENIX - and its 180 lumens for $50 with incredible form factor and rock-solid stability. Absolutely unbeatable.

I've seen the discussions on Fenix in the past. That does look like a good way to go.

Two fenixes over a Blackburn X-6 any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

Sorry to bump an old thread ... but ... where should I be looking for Fenix lights?

Fenixes are sooo 2007. You should look into P7s. Cheaper and brighter.

+1 absolutely - Fenix are out of date and overpriced. Buy a nice P7 from DX, you'll never look back...:thumb:

Can you recommend a P7? I see SEVERAL options at DX.

Well, one of my mates uses a MTE P7 and is very happy with it.

I've got an Aurora which personally I prefer.

Check my signature for a review of it.

If a single 18650 torch with 2 modes would suit you than this might be a good place to start:

The best place to start is how many modes do you want ?

What runtime do you want ?

:)

The light output, quality, and overall construction of the Blackburn System X6 is pretty good. I bought these from a friend for 50 dollars, which was a great price, but for 99 I would reccommend looking at other light systems. The battery with the BBX6 is enormous, and lasts for a very short period. With both lamps on high, I don't think I would want to stay out after dark for more than an hour and a half or so. With one on high, and the other lamp on strobe, I have not run out of battery within 2.5 hours of riding. With both lamps on strobe, I'll bet you could have enough battery for a 5 hour ride, but who the heck wants to stare at everything around them flashing for that long anyway. At my LBS most people stand behind the cygolite brand name.
