Why two cords on Battery Space Pack and charger
Maybe this is a stupid question. I just bought a Battery Space NiMH battery pack and the universal charger for my light. Both the charger and the pack have two wire cords on them each with a different plug. One of the cords on the battery pack is what you would expect for a bike light. The other cord is just two wires with a small square plug. I am assuming that for whatever reason this is redundant on the battery pack. If this is the case can I just cut the small wires off and wrap the ends in electrical tape. Or am I missing something here?

The other wire is a temperature sensor. The direction sheet did not say it but found it on their web site. The battery pack seemed to charge OK.
