Again, vznavigator doesn't control your blackberry GPS. It is the other way around. Your blackberry GPS feeds vznavigator, if you have that feature downloaded and turned on.

How to use your verizon blackberry's GPS with or without vznavigator:

First, turn on your blackberry's GPS. Then set GPS to "Location" (not 911 only).

If you're not running OS 4.5 or later, you may need to upgrade.

Doesn't work with my 8130 either.

Lots of talk in the forums about how to crack the gps, which verizon has locked down to only let vznavigator and BBmaps (which I use) access teh internal GPS.

Thanks, verizon.

I guess I'm not giving them enough money.

No, VZ just, mistakenly, believes that their unqualified software designers can make better widgets than software designers that have been doing things for years and whose income actually depends on making better widgets rather than making corporate subsidized widgets. Basically, VZ management is a bunch of control freaks.

It depends on how many satellites you are communicating with. I have a program on my BlackBerry that shows me how many satellites i am communicating with and it reports an accuracy level of 3 meters.

On a practical level I play golf and use my BlackBerry for the yardages to the hole. The partner I play with has GolfLogix which is a Garmin hand held unit with their software on it. My phone shows the exact same yardages as the Garmin unit.
