which lite? Single Shot Plus or Ixon IQ
Hi i'm trying to decide on the busch and muller Ixon IQ or the Cateye Single Shot Plus. Any one have any beam shots or experiences with either light? I also own a Fenix P3d and am wondering how good that would be mounted on my handlebars instead of the other two lights. Thanks for any help.

Here is The Busch and Muller Ixon IQ
In the day time http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=509519 In the night. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...elights006.jpg The New light is three times brighter than my old one shown above. http://harriscyclery.net/itemdetails.cfm?id=2692 |
Look up the threads of the recent days. AFAIK, the Ixons have a nicely shaped beam without obvious hotspots. I do not own one of them, but I would expect this type of illumination to be much more useful then the one of the most other lights with comparatively primitive reflectors. Perhaps the P7 flashlights can compensate with higher light output?

I have IXON IQ but not Single shot plus. Although the light output lumens of both lights seems to be even, IXON beam is perhaps brighter than Singleshot plus because it limits proper beam area for some kind of bicycle riding.
But for the reason, IXON IQ has dark spot from just front of tyre to 4m ahead. Otherwise, Singleshot plus has broader beam pattern and has no dark spot and has flashing mode which is useful in jam traffic or evening. If you only use one light, Singleshot plus is better I think. But You have P3D also. Then I recommend that you use "IXON IQ and P3D at the same time". Only P3D is not recommended because of the beam pattern and short runtime. P3D with IXON IQ can cover drawbacks of each other. You can lit near by P3D middle mode and far by IXON IQ. In the evening and in the traffic jam you can use P3D strobe mode. |

They also sell a dynamo light that's rated at 40 lux - the iq fly. They recently (this year) came out with the Cyo which is rated at 60 lux - 50% more. The one you linked to is likely 3 times as much light as the light you have, but unless there's been some major new product (which I would think would be reflected on the product page) I think the Ixon IQ has been putting out the same amount of light for 2 years. I just ordered and received one myself this summer - it's better than some lights, but I'm a little dissapointed with it compared to the Lumotec Cyo on my other bike. |

It has worked great on the 2700 miles so far on the 42Ride. Other riders like to ride with me as we sometimes start at 5:30 in the morning to beat the afternoon heat. I would be glad to buy the one from you when I get back home. |
