Bought a Garmin Edge 605. Trying to decide whether to use Garmin Connect, MapMyRide.com, BikeRouteToaster, Bikely, Routeslip, or others you might suggest? My goal would be to upload and track my rides, view electaion profiles, etc.

I recently got a 705 and decided on SportTracks (not a site, but desktop software) for my main tracking. It has lots of analytical features and with the Apply Routes plugin can do some cool data visualization in Google Earth.

I've also been playing with a new site called Strava that's in beta that will find local climbs and compare your performance to others'.

I'd say Veloroutes.org or bikely.

Mapmyride has become excessive commercial, it's hardly usable if you don't pay. Ads everywhere, printing blocked unless you pay. They do have some features that other sites don't have, tho.

I'm with Wiedmann. I use Sporttracks on my machine, and upload to Garmin Connect just as a secondary backup.

I looked at all the others and, despite my troubles with MayMyRide, I am staying with them.

If you're looking to create a map on the web, save it, and download to your device. Just look at two:

For Using the Navigation features of your 605, use bikehike.co.uk
It's not sexy, but it will save your routes, and draw you the profile as you draw your route.
Also, download the route to your 605 as a gpxx file for navigation. It gives you great turn by turn.

If you want to use the course mode, and add/edit your own course points, go to www.bikeroutetoaster.com. This also gives you a rough profile, and the site lets you edit the names and values of the course points as a "cue sheet". Download the file as a .tcx and you'll get all the features of the course (virtual partner, distance to next, etc).

For tracking your progress, Garmin Connect is a decent start. Nothing to install on your computer, and it gives you enough of what you need. Sporttracks is a great desktop application, but I switch computers a lot, so it's tough for me to keep that up to date. Also Garmin Connect added a manual entry, which is great for when you don't ride with the GPS.

I used to use mapmyride but now use ridewithgps.com. The developers are active and responsive to user requests. You can break routes in the middle (to add another loop, etc.) and also use trails (instead of just roads).
