tail light
I am looking to get a tail light for my bike cause I can't afford to get pulled over anymore, even without the tickets, I just ain't in good standing with police anymore.
I sorta like the simplicity of the serfas TL-STBK silicon light. It has good battery life, is decently water resistant, and clean looking on a seat post. http://www.serfas.com/images/products/large/tl-stbk.jpg The thing is I know like a year ago I saw some guy post a similar light trying to advertise for his new product. It was a line of led's, 5 or 6, in a slick body that mounted to the seat post. But for the life of me I can't find it anywhere and I know it is still around. I already know about knog, please don't post their stuff. Does anybody know of any other similar rear lights. Something without a hard plastic case that doesn't stick off the bike like a sore thumb. I know, sorry for form over function, but I do like the bike to look clean, and I don't want something that might bump off and break cause I do jump off a lot of curbs, and leave the light on all the time, including while practicing tricks where bumping it is likely to occur. |
Knog has a line of lights like these. But for your safety and protection, you really should invest in one of the 1/2-1 Watt LED systems with the hard plastic mounts that stick out of your bike.
Planet Bike Superflash, Blackburn Mars 4, Nitrerider Cherry Bomb |
i like the fact that the cherry bomb has built in reflectors, but the superflash has 2 side ambers and a lifetime warranty. decisions decisions.

This takes AA batteries, not AAA, and 4, not 2 batteries and with 20 LED's is very bright. Unless you purchase the Dinotte, and I have seen about every tail light mentioned including the ones above, I recommend this as a primary tail light. However my buddy did order one recently and it was DOA. I hope Vetta corrects it without hassle. |

I get 1 suggestion for know and 3 for hard plastic cases. Thanks ever so much for your great help. :( |

The page you link says AAA. Is it wrong? Also, how's the waterproofing on the battery pack?
http://www.vetta.com/comparison_tabl...Taillight.html I don't know about waterproofing. |

Hm.. It just looks to me like it could easily be not very waterproof, and for me taillights are useless if they're not waterproof. I ride regardless of the weather.

That is because the ones you are asking for are useless. You might as well not use anything at all because they do not make you visible. Get something that is going to be effective or keep your money.
And as I said in my first post, it is not useless cause it will keep the cops from pulling me over, which I don't want, that's what got me arrested 2 weeks ago, no light (well, got me pulled over, other things got me arrested, but would not have been an issue had they just rolled past me). I don't need to see the road behind where I have already been cause I am not moving that direction. I don't need some 3w lights that emits a stream 50 yards back. If I wanted one of those, I would have already known which one to get cause there a a hundred threads on them already. If you aren't going to be useful in a thread i start, then don't post in it. |

The OP wants cool, not functional. For an outlaw like him, I'd suggest a black light.
breakin the law, breakin the law  |
Na, I got caught once, no longer do those things, but if I get pulled over again since I am now on parole it is just a hassle and takes like 30 minutes, get to play 100 questions, and they will for sure give me a ticket for no light. I am not trying to be hardcore, or outlaw, just being vague case it's not your business. It's a personal matter jackass.
The light needs to be functional in that it emits light, and won't get ruined in the rain, that's all. There are a lot of lights that do that, and I was hoping somebody here might know a few that fit those two qualities without being bulky, prone to breakage if dropped or kicked (hard plastic), and ugly. If nobody does than that's fine, just don't sit here and pretend to while posting up lights that don't fit that description. |
pssst....helpless....

Indeed, a google search woulda took you like ten seconds. No thanks necessary...wouldn't want a tough guy like you to look like he has manners. |
I googled around for quite a while, but wasn't looking specifically for anything like that really so never came across it. It is a good suggestion though, thanks for posting it.

I sent them an e-mail about the battery type error and they are going to correct it. I just happened to notice that it addresses water resistance at the very bottom of the page. Claim is splash proof if that helps.
