Does anybody have any experience with this taillight? More intensity than a Superflash, but around the same price point? I like the integrated reflector - keeps you legal. Not sure what kind of drain the 1W led would have on a couple AAAs though.

Just got mine. Should be replacing the pb superflash as the new 'standard' once it catches on. The ZZZpop mode is awesome, and the light itself is much more intense than the superflash.

I will be running the rb1k on my seatpost and the pbsf on the jersey pocket

I was able to do a video capture. I don't have a convienent way to take a photo. Hope it helps. first one is superflash, second is the radbot

Looks good! If you're in the market for a rear light, also compare to the new Mars 4.0 tail-light - it's brighter than PBSF, and probably on par with the radbot, and I got mine on Amazon for $19.99 without a sale last month.

superflash says 100 hours which may be a fib. So, 2 x bright or 2 x eat your batteries. pick your poison.

SuperFlash on left, RB1k on right. I like the beam spread on the RB1k, it's going to be able to cover a lot wider of an angle. And quite a lot of power, too.

They tried to deliver mine today, but I wasn't here. I'll have to do the signature-release slip and play with mine tomorrow

That is WAY WAY more than 2x brighter. I'm picking under 10 hrs if its powered by 2AA.

We have a winner!!! I'm getting one.

Though, I suppose this will just kick off an arms race of rear tail lights. Which, I think will be awesome!!! BTW, no reason to abandon the superflash. Just put it on a chainstay. I like the constant blinking action. Probably helps oncoming cars judge your distance.

Don't be so sure. The Superflash has been around and likely is built with the same LED since day one. LEDs get more efficient every year. So I can see how a newer model using a more efficient LED could put out 2.5-3.0x the light but only use twice the power.

If it's a choice between this and the $160 Dinotte, it's a no brainer.

Ok, got mine and took a first look at it.


^ It's bigger than a SuperFlash.


^ Side view. The button has a tactile, audible "ca-click" when pushed.

^ The batteries go in the section on the left, and the circuitry's on the right. Those spring contacts at the bottom of the photo make contact with the square metal "pads" on the white circuit board. I hope they're stainless steel so corrosion doesn't cause problems.



The following photos were all taken at the same full-manual camera settings, and all of them are using NiMH rechargable AAA cells running in steady mode, so you can compare the photos directly. As you can see, the RB1k is approaching the performance of the LOW mode on a DiNotte 140L, although the beam's not quite as wide.

Well, it doesn't even sniff the Dinotte in terms of brightness. I will get one or two anyway and use them in circumstances when I don't think the retina searing ability of my 140L is quite necessary, but where my superflashes might lack.
