Which Shimano Dynohub?
 

So I have a choice between a Shimano XT/Ultegra DH3D72 or a Shimano Alfine DH-S501. I want the one that is best! But sadly cannot find any information as to which is better, the alfine is 2 euros more expensive.

According the the Harris Cyclery site, the only difference is the DH-s501 says "Alfine" on it and has a black or silver finish.

No. At least not according to the parts diagrams. DH-S501 DH-3D72 Of course, I have no idea what any of it means...

FWIW, I'm very pleased with my Alfine. It has less writing on it--just the Alfine logo.

Go to the shimano tech site and look at the expanded view of each and see if you can see a difference.

Thanks guys, looking at the tech docs that tsl provided it looks like the only thing is the internal assembly has a different model number! And the S501 looks like it has parts that are compatible with the 3D72 so I guess it does mean they are the same! Will probably go for the alfine as I want a black hub!
