Waterproof mp3 player (case?)
I've wrecked 2 mp3 players already (a Sansa clip & a Sansa m260) riding in the rain. Has anybody had any luck with specific brands that can handle rain, or that come with a good waterproof case?
Smaller is better (I strap my mp3 player to my helmet), and I'd prefer one that uses a AAA battery.
Or is there some easy way to make a waterproof case with some kind of rubber compound or something?
Any other ideas?

A small ziplock bag works for me. I also use a large one for the laptop.

Look around at motorcycle products, e.g. Aqua Box or Dry Bag.
Do you carry a 'c.phone' with you? If so, how do you keep that dry? All my music is on my c.phone and I do not wanna get that wet. Maybe in a ziplock bag stuffed in my handle bar bag.

If you use an Otter Box, it will be fully waterproof but may be too large to attach to your helmet.. I have one for an older Ipod Shuffle and has worked perfectly for a few years..

Mines got a built in speaker, I never need to use headphones, and I just hang it from a lanyard under my raincape when it rains.

I have a sansa fuze. I just put a ziplock around it when it rains. Condoms work very well too.

$20.00 will get you a Pelican waterproof case. You'll need to mount it somewhere but won't have to worry about rain/dust/etc.

Seriously, they expect someone to put a Shuffle into a case that can fit a full size iPod?

+1 on the Pelican case. It is small enough to put it in a cycling jersey and will handle drops and downpours. Note that any 'waterproof' case will be fairly bulky & not lightweight.

sony used to have their "Sports" line of portable players, none were MP3's though.
these players had gaskets and rubber plugs and were weatherproof, not waterproof.
too bad. I've wrecked an Ipod during a sudden rainstorm. water puddled inside a pocket and got it all wet.

I'm telling you guys, ziplocks. They are as waterproof as anything else, weigh nothing and take zero space.

They just peek through the corner of the ziplock. It's not a perfect seal. But you just double the bag over and it's fine. I've ridden through torrential rains and it doesn't even get vaguely damp inside.
