Camera in case of getting rear-ended

Sometime in the last month or so I've seen a link to a product that is a video camera made to be mounted on the rear of a bike. It only keeps the last 30 seconds or a minute of video, but has an accelerometer so it knows if you get hit and will stop recording so the events leading up to the collision are recorded.

I wasn't particularly interested at the time I saw the product and I've forgotten where I saw it. There's a pretty decent chance it was in this forum, though. I tried searching for it, but didn't have much luck and got fed up with the "one search per 30 seconds" rule. Does anyone know what the product is?

A co-worker of mine recently got hit from behind by a driver who then drove away, and the police have yet to catch him. Something like this would have been invaluable.

Thanks,

Keith

Nevermind, I found it. It's the Cerevellum. Not available until this summer, and a little pricey at $349.

Any of the regular helmet/handlebar mount cameras out there should work, they will run up to 2 hours, just set them to rerecord at the beginning of each trip.

I doubt the accelerometer would be happy with my route. I ride over pretty bone-jarring washboarding and potholes every day. I had to build cyclocross wheels to keep from popping spokes every week.

A sign hanging on your rack that reads "You are being video" probably will help make some driver to behave better. I always wanted to take a broken old camcorder tear the guts out of it so that it's light and mount it on my rack next to that homemade sign hanging on my pannier. Courious just to see how driver will behave behind me LOL

I'd advise against that - you'll get tailgated by English professors and pedants.

Seems like you'd want to focus more on not getting hit than finding a camera.
