Compare PB Blaze and Cateye HL-EL135
Looking for a "be seen" light and looking at the Planet Bike 3044 Blaze 1-watt LED (Amazon $39.99) and the Cateye HL-EL135 (Amazon $17.90). My primary use will be for commute to/from work. It is light enough in the morning when I would leave that I can see enough of the road, but think I should have some lighting to alert other drivers to my presence. My route is rural roads with no other lighting. Traffic is typically very light.

If anyone has used both of these lights, I'd appreciate any thoughts on advantages of one over the other. Given the price difference, perhaps I should consider 2 of the Cateye versus one of the PB? With that setup I could leave one on high and one on flash?

I have the Cateye 130/135. This is a pretty small light and is not much wider and longer than the 2 AA batteries it houses.

I use this strictly as a "See me blinker". It puts out a pretty bright long lasting blink, but is to small and doesn't have the pizzazz to be used as a primary headlight.

I haven't dealt with the Cateye, but I had dealings with the PB Blaze. I've found that the PB Blaze's beam as being too focused, too low powered for low light street riding, and had trouble with motorists seeing me when they're crossing intersections from my left. Even with two PB Blazes, they weren't enough to stop left crosses, and now the Blazes are retired to my storage cabinet for the time being.
