Garmin, Navigation W/Voice Prompts?

I'm bout ready to pull the trigger on an Edge 705 for navigation and possibly training so just as soon as I do ya'll get ready because the voice prompts will be out shortly thereafter with one button plug and play.
So what do yall think, are they (705) as good as it gets or not?
Also, second question, what does refurb mean and where do all the used/refurbs come from?
Thanks,
Tony

Refurb, means reburished. The unit was sent back by a previous owner and the factory (or a contractor) has repaired it. Some companies do well refurbishing, some don't. Try a Google search to see what Garmin's reputation is on refurbished products. (I will never by anything refurbished again after buying a refurbished Poulan chainsaw that hadn't been properly refurbished; returned it and bought a new Stihl).

I don't have a Garmin, but I have a Mio GPS with text-to-speech and using it on my bike's handlebars is as nice as using it in a vehicle when riding in an area that I'm not familiar with.

I bought a refurb Edge 705 from NewEgg 9 months ago. So far it's been working fine. New from the factory is not a 100% guarantee of flawless operation, as quite a few Garmin owners have reported theirs shutting off mysteriously despite full battery charge and refusing to turn on again. As long as the refurb unit comes with a full manufacturer's warranty, you're as safe as when you buy a brand new unit.
