New Panoram...wire not long enough...can I cut it?

Just got a new Topeak Panoram 17 function (older style) computer.
For my recumbent (forgot about wire length. I want to mount on handlebars
but it won't reach! Can I cut the wire and add a piece? Is it a special wire?

I don't know that model, but there's nothing special about any of them. It's possible you might have to be sure not to switch the wires, if it uses a solid-state sensor, I don't know if any of the computers use hall effect magnetic sensors. I think most just use reed switches in which case it doesn't matter.

In any case, sure, you can extend it. I've repaired broken wires, and even replaced a wrecked sensor off a Planet Bike computer by replacing it with one from a $8 K-Mart computer once.
Work: the 8 hours that separates bike rides.
