I will post thier reply when/if I get one.

Make sure you are careful to not let it go past the PayPal dispute period. If you don't have product in hand by the day before the end of the period, start a dispute.

I need to check and see how much time I have, thanks for bringing up that point.

UPDATE: I checked on the timing and a person has 45 days from the day the payment was made.

Any reason you couldn't just use a Dinotte mount instead of making one? I believe they can be purchased separately.

I just got the MS and the tail-light, and it's awesome. It's replacing my dual FENIX setup which was good, but not great.

Interestingly, the Fenix throws as far as the MS , but the spread is much brighter on the MS, so it makes it much more comfortable to ride in.

The tail-light is fantastic. It's bright as all get-go, and has multiple strobes. To be honest, I do think a PBSF or Mars4.0 is enough at night, but NOBODY will miss you with that MS tail-light.

I used the o-rings to just attach it to my seatpost without any addons, and it works great. Might be not as easy if you have a big seatpost bag or bag atop your rack.

For some very odd reason the seller decided to make his feedback private in the last 24 hours. Before I was looking to see if anyone actually got their lights and commented on them in the feedback. This just gets sketcher and sketcher.

From ebay.

Feedback Profiles are public by default. Members have the option of making their Feedback Profiles private. However, it’s important to remember that keeping your profile public builds trust by letting potential trading partners see what others have said about you.

When you choose the “private” setting for your Feedback Profile:

*

You can’t sell items on eBay.

*

Only the Feedback comments are hidden from other members. Your Feedback Score - the number of positive, neutral, and negative Feedback ratings you’ve received – is still public.

Of course they now have zero items for sale. Hmmmm.....

OK People I've been buying and selling for 12 years on ebay, this scam is in full flight.. Ask for tracking now and get it in 24 hours or file your claims NOW..

If the seller in involved he is now closing his bank account and credit cards associated with his ebay / paypal accounts.. No checking or CC, you have to wait a long time to get your money back because paypal now has to pony up the bucks, not the seller..

The FB went private because of the onslaught of negative feedbacks that are coming, the longer you keep that info private and string people along the farther he can get away from this scam. He not only was selling bike lights but many other commodity type items at super discounted rates.. He built his feedback up by selling 99 cent dvds and cd's, he's only been on ebay for 3 months.. If for some reason I am wrong, this entire post will be deleted..

Use the contact info link to get the seller name and phone number and find out the truth, most likely the number is not working or is now disconnected, you need his ebay id and auction # to get this info, it only works if you have a completed auction with seller..

Uh, is that a trick question? Why would I buy something and wait days for it to be delivered when I can make one in 5 minutes with stuff on hand? For that matter, why would I buy something that I can make, period? That's crazy talk.

No trick question. You have more skills than me. I'd buy it.

Would love to hear your opinion after you try a $90 Magicshine compared to a Niterider setup with similar output.(Likely $300+)

I just read numerous reviews and watched the MBTR video review. The light is Chinese. Good luck on the "warranty". The video review mentioned Build quality issues, and I don't want my money going overseas anymore.
Sounds like a "disposable" bike light to me. Once it's used up, you gotta buy another one...

I'll stick with Niterider: Made in the U.S.A. Good product waranty/support. Not much more $ for the Niterider USB plus vs the Magicshine for $90, especially if you add shipping... You can readily buy most Niterider lights off the shelf at your LBS and usually on sale.

And NO, I don't work for Niterider or any other bike product company. :p

Personally I try really hard NOT to buy products from China anymore... And it's not easy either.

My current light set-up is the aforementioned Niterider USB Plus along with a Knog Gekko 3 L.E.D. light - (attached pic below).
As already mentioned I ride bike paths a lot. Others ride streets/gravel/trails. Obviously there are a multitude of bike lights to choose from based on your riding needs. I just got tired of the trial and error process with cheap lights. For me, the simplicity of rechargeable/quick release options of the Niterider really work well for me when I want to switch rides.

I hate to burst your bubble but Niterider confirmed that while the lights are assembled here in the USA, that many of the parts they use on there lights are made in China..

There's no choice there. Nobody is making LEDs in the US as far as I know. For one thing, the chemical processes for some LEDs (particularly blue and white) are pretty dirty (arsenic and other nasty doping compounds) and it would be quite expensive to do it in the US legally. I know, it stinks that we export our pollution, but it's reality right now.

Also AFAIK there isn't any battery manufacturing in the US. There is some construction on plants to make high end batteries for electric vehicles, but they're not running yet.

Also nobody is fabbing integrated circuits or other electronic components in the US, with the exception of some specialty chips. Even microprocessor fabs have moved offshore, though some of those have gone to the EU.

I think you MIGHT be able to get the case made in the US; at least the major components of it. I bet the seals and such would still be from China. And maybe possibly the wire could be obtained from US sources, but that's probably difficult as well since most copper is mined in South America and is exported to China to make into products. But I'm sure the circuit boards are made in China as well; there are some US based circuit board makers but they're pretty expensive and are generally only used for rapid prototyping.

Since he has not received any negative fbs, I was wondering.. I hope all you guys placed claims for your money already.. If he did what I posted earler, paypal has to pony up the $$$..

ebay told me to wait another week before I filed a claim against the guy.

socalrider 10-01-10 08:11 AM

Has the seller made any contact with you confirming a shipment has been made? If not, file your claim now, it's going to be a long line to get your money back..

no contact since they shut down, I filed they a complaint but was told to wait a week to make sure. I was given a tracking # when first purchased but the post office web site says they were contacted an item was being shipped with that tracking # but the iten has not been recieved by them yet.

niakapa 10-01-10 09:30 PM

I ordered from this seller too and havent received a valid tracking # (a real one accompanying an actual shipped item). Who refunds the money in this case; ebay or paypal?

Ebay. File an 'item not received' claim with them. They give the seller seven days to respond, then if there is no response they start the refund procedure.

socalrider 10-02-10 02:57 AM

FILE YOUR COMPLAINTS NOW.. The refund process is easy if the seller isn't pulling a scam like this one is.. He not only was selling lights but many other commodity items.. Like posted above, he most likely has closed his Credit Card and Bank Accounts associated with his ebay/paypal accounts.. This makes getting the money back more complicated because normally when a dispute is filed the money is held from the associated paypal / checking or Credit Card account until the dispute is resolved.. If he has closed all of these, most likely he has, it makes things more difficult to process..

One thing ebay hates to do is to pony up $$$

Cyclist0383 10-07-10 02:42 PM

I received a full refund from ebay (including shipping) with no hassle at all.
