Garmin Edge 705 Cadence sensor

Hey guys,

Just a quick question regarding the Cadence sensor on the Edge705. The Last couple of days i've been looking down and seeing the magnet on the crank looking a little loose. Stuipidly i didn't do anything about it!
Anyway today i looked down at the screen and noticed despite doing about 20mph i wasnt actually pedaling...according to the cadence display. The magnet had come off.

Is it just a magent and replaceable without getting one from garmin?

Anyone got any good ideas on how to fix it more securely, the sticky strip and cable tie did &*%$£ all to be honest.

Thanks

Same thing happened to me. I purchased a magnet for the window contacts on a house alarm. It has two sided tape as well. I filed a groove in the middle and edges of the magnet for the cable tie to keep the magnet from sliding.

You can get powerful "rare earth" magnets from hobby shops, Radio Shack (find one that still stocks electronic parts), or a billion places online.

Double stick tape is OK, but poxy is forever!

I just wrap electrical tape a couple of times around the crank over the magnet. keeps it from sliding around (a problem I've had) and keeps it on the crank.

I used silicone to support the bond. It does remove if needed.
I also have flat spokes that holds the magnet tighter, but on my bike with round spokes, a little silicone under the magnet helps too.
