Wired computer w/ speed pickup on rear wheel <> Also, heart monitor with long strap?

Take pity on my lame questions. I am so tired of all this "shopping" stuff. I want to find a computer without having to read through dozens of descriptions and reviews.
  1. Is there a computer that lets me effectively run just one wire to the rear to the cadence and speed pickups?
  2. My reading on Amazon reviews indicates that Timex HRM's good good grades but the straps are short (I'm 6'2" 240) and that Poloar quality is down. Any suggestions?

I started riding two weeks ago - 29 miles and 61 miles, today I started week 3 with 38 miles. In the last three weeks I've researched bikes (awaiting delivery), cycling clothing (wearing bibs now), pedals and shoes (borrowed some Monday, ordered stuff today). In addition to five test rides on new bikes I've been riding my 35 year-old Lotus and bringing it back to life (new tires, new used handlebar, new used saddle).

Thanks

Cateye Astrale 8 is a wired computer with cadence and rear wheel speed sensor and a single cable run to the two sensors. I have that computer on 3 bikes and they all work great.

I know you said wired, but the Blackburn Delphi/Neuro 5 and 6s have a nice big chest strap (I'm 6'1, 290lb) and a combined wireless cadence and rear wheel sensor.
It also has a nice stem mount

don't know if you can order from mec where you are or if you can get this from somewhere else but this one has a wire that runs down to the rear wheel and has both cadence and speed sensors. i've used it for several months until i got the garmin edge 500.
