Garmin Forerunner 305 to 500 Upgrade Question

Hi all, It's been a while since I've been in this sub-forum, but everyone here helped me out when i was in the market for a bike light and i was hoping it would be the same this time around...

my questions are:

I am currently running a garmin forerunner 305 setup with cadence and the HRM... I would like to purchase a 500 and was not sure if i would need a different cadence sensor, or if the one I am currently using would work. The ~$60 price difference on PBK (plus the stock currently available has me wondering) Also, would my current HR strap work with the new 500?

Basically, I'm just looking for whether the basic Unit is able to be purchased, or if I have to wait for the version with HR and CAD

Thanks, Tom

Gotta wonder why you haven't asked Garmin first?

It'll work just fine, they use the same sensors for everything.

Are you not going to run anymore? I would look at the 310xt. It is basically the garmin 500 with the added bonus of running and swimming.

The lack of a barometric altimeter was a deal breaker for me when I compared the 310xt and Edge 500. Plus support for up to three bikes was nice. I keep mileage logs for maintenance purposes and that would be impossible without that feature.

Actually the 310xt has support for up to 3 bikes and keeps a log of your miles. The BA was not an issue for me.
