bottle dynamo noise
Hi, Just bought & instaled A Bush & Muller bottle dynamo & B&M Lumotec IQ Cyo Plus LED light, Wow! what a great light. I was expecting a bit of a hum from the dynamo but this thing screams, it rather spoils the tranquility of my night time commute. I have around 10ks of unlit country roads so I supose I won't get to much trouble from wild animals diving under the front wheel cause they can hear me coming from a long way off. Maybe the solution is to go for it & buy a hub dynamo. But I can thorughly recomend the Lumotec IQ Cyo, it's a very powerful beam & gets to full power early at slow speeds.

Yes, the B&M bottle dynamo (I have an old Dymotec 6) makes some noise. Making sure it's properly adjusted against the tyre wall may help a bit, but not much. Hub dynamos are definitely the way to go, if you want quieter ride.

Another option is a bottom bracket mount dynamo. Supposed to be quieter andmore efficient than the bottle dynamos though not as low drag as the hub dynamo. Peter White Cycles is bringing in the Sanyo model and selling it for less than the Dymotec 6 bottle generator, $44.
