Looking for trainer information (beginning at remedial)
 

So as we near football season I began to think about how I was going to use my time. Last year was the first time in a long while that I spent a LOT of hours watching football. So in preparation, I figure I should look at a trainer.

I know next to nothing about them other than there are rollers and ones where it basically turns your bike into a stationary.

Is there a thread someone can point me to, that has top to bottom information? Another site? I did a search, but most threads seem to be comparing one to another, which I'm not ready for yet. I actually need the basics.
