Here's the way I managed to mount my iPod shuffle and a small battery powered speaker system on my bike. The bird 'suet feeder' that I found at Big Lots provides a convenient, stable mounting point for those things as well as any other small item I might choose to attach.

The cheapest sound system is the Earth and just listen to the wildlife and the wind...and cars coming up from behind that may gun their engines so they can turn in front of you cutting you off that you would never hear listening to something.

Well I hope you live a long life. I liken listening to music while riding a bike to using a cell phone while driving, your senses are dulled.

Yes they are, but not disabling. Use some self awareness and you'll be fine. If someone is gonna plow into me. That could happen with or without music.

I with Rekmeyata on the issue. No tunes and I'm a pretty big music guy but I can live without it while riding in a group or by myself. A guy in my group just bungies an old transitor radio to his rack.

You don't get it, sure your not listening to music and everything else is blocked out; just like using a cell phone in car, your not blocking out everything. I hear so many cell phone users say the same thing' "use some self awareness and you'll be fine", but they still die or kill someone else. But you are right, you are blocking out some of the noise and/or your attention is somewhere else, and during that time that your zoning you losing valuable time you could have used to avoid an accident. One second lost is a lot of time to die or not to die in.

By the way, I too am a huge music fan, but when I ride my bike I want all my senses at 100%, when I listen to music at home I close my eyes and sit back and crank it up and could care less if a car is speeding down my road.
