EDIT:
Also, looking at the eBay links for those MS's (headlight above and bike light), The drive current is listed at 1000mA while the GeoMan's are listed at 2400mA. Could these eBay MS lights be lower binned P7 emitters? If that is the case, then they'll be less than 1/2 as bright.
It looks to be a cut and paste from Deal Extreme.

Not really a CREE... That makes sense. I just picked up a CREE 5watt head lamp, 3-AA unit off e-bay straight out of hongKong for $15 delevered and man that thing is bright. The ratchet that it uses to pivot is terrible, but I've got a planed fix for it when it fails. We'll see how long it lasts but for $15 it makes my 5 year old dual Cygolite beams disappear.

Next up is the MS.

So is there any difference between the two 3 mode units in that auction besides the color of the box?

No idea, but the more look at the auction the more I suspect it's some sort of scam.

There is definitely something fishy about this. I asked the seller if they had them or they were dropped shipped. Even though the auction lists the item as being in Minnesota, I got this reply.

Hello. These items are shipped direct from the mfg. We submit the orders and they ship them out. We can request tracking from them but it is internal on their part so we will forward it to you once we receive it. Contact us anytime with questions or concerns.
They responded very quickly to this question, but I have yet to hear back on my query regarding why they are so much cheaper than everyone else. More details as they arrive.....

The plot thickens.

Hello Benjamin. These do not ship international our mfg is located in NJ USA. I don't know whose prices you are comparing to. We only post prices that are given to us via the mfg.

MJ-836 or such.

Well, It's been ordered. I have a USPS tracking #. ebay and PP guarantee. Not branded a Magicshine but the Model#,SSC Part and BIN # is the same, got's a purty battery with a lCD too, only two modes,Low/high (perfect!) is sent from HK.
I think's even if it's a blem or grey market item, with a 14 day no question asked return policy, Strike's me as Cool beans! I must be a dmb a$$ for falling for it. Btw, I ordered the ext cable and Y from dx for $6.35. I'll dissemble, Image + identify the thingy's inside and post the results upon arrival. Same Bat time, Same Bat channel.
Kind regards to all, :^P

do you have a HK Post or usps tracking number? The seller says that they ship from New Jersey, but yours is coming from HK?

If these are shipping from HK that actually makes more sense than shipping from NJ Manufacturer..

Hope all ends well, maybe like in"goodfellas" these just happen to fall off the back of the truck, that is the reason for the good prices..

Here is what my USPS tracking # gives me on the USPS web site, this is all the info as of this morning.

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on September 19, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

I hope that is a typo and not actually 1A drive current. That would put it probably less than 300 lumens OTF. It'll last a long time though on 4x18650 LiIon cells though.

That's a USPS notification that says someone in the US printed out a label. It should have more info in a few days if a package was actually shipped.

More from the seller.

I doubt our mfg would involve themselves in any kind of scam. They have worked with us long before we had our Ebay store. I did get your links on line and I did view them and I am curious as to the low prices we are listing compared to intl sellers but again we work with a very trusted mfg so I highly doubt we have any reason to have concern over this but I do appreciate you providing me with this information however.

Clearly something's in error on that page. You don't get 3 hour runtime off four 18650 cells drawing 1 amp. That pack should be 4400 mAH @ 7.4 volts, a 3 hour runtime would indicate a draw of about 1.5 amps, which is about right given that the ACTUAL lumen output from MS lights is typically 450 to 500 lumens.

The Tracking code format contains 22 digits, which according to the USPS web site is only for delivery confirmation, so there won't be any updates until it's scanned at your door.
That's SOP for 1st Class Mail or International shipping, even after Customs notification. Packages won't show in the system until delivery.
It's still just speculation as to whether this thing shows up or not, but ebay shows it shipped on the 21st.
But hey, it only $40.00. Worst case scenerio is to drink some Hamm's instead of Blue Moon if ebay has to refund the money.

So since a usps label was printed out, did it ship from the USA or was it Hong Kong?
