Which B&M Dymotec to order? Duuhh?
I feel like such an idiot, but I will ask anyways....
My GTO Greenspeed has a dynamo bracket on the LH side of the rear frame. Does that mean that I order a left-hand design B&M Dynamo to fit? Seriously, I don't know and there is nothing that I have read on the B&M site that tells me. Also, where can I get a bracket to fit on my custom built diamond frame to use the same dynamo if the diamond frame does not have a bracket for any dynamo? Thanks in advance. |
Most of the bottle dynamos have always mounted from the LH side. I haven't known any that don't mount on the left. Not saying they don't exist, just haven't seen them.
I see Peter White has brackets for them as I'm sure a lot of other specialty shops will also. |
do they have a left hand and right hand version? Most dc generators will work in either direction, although it is possible to build them so that they have one preferred direction and the opposite direction causes excessive wear.

Yes, they do have LH/RH mounting directions, same as rotation directions for the hubs.

unterhausen;
LH or RH has to do with the direction the spring presses the dynamo against the tire. For safest mounting you want the dynamo to contact the tire ahead of the mounting point on the frame or fork so that the dynamo roller is not forced tighter against the tire in normal riding. If mounted that way then the mount slipping can cause the dynamo to go into the spokes. Not good! |

BTW, I did find the bracket (sold by Peter White) on the B&M website - it just took a lot of searching, but it is there.. |
