Self-contained Light vs Conventional Light & Rechargeables
 

I'm currently running a dynamo-powered Lumotec IQ Cyo R head light, and using a Dinotte 200L to enhance/brighten the area directly in front of the wheel/tire (to avoid debris, etc). The Dinotte is overkill for that task, and mounting the battery pack can be a bit tricky if I'm not using my front panniers.

I'd like to replace the Dinotte with a small stand-alone light similar in power to a Planet Bike Blaze 2-watt, or Cygolite 150/NiteRider MiNewt 150. If I went the Planet Bike route, I'd need to change the batteries approximately once a week, which means opening the case, etc. If I went with the all-in-one approach, I'd only have to remove the light from the mount/clamp.

Do the cells in the all-in-one units compare favorably to separate rechargeable batteries?

The Bush and Mueller Ixon IQ is probably brighter (with a much better shaped beam) than any of the battery lights you listed, and when purchased with the batteries and charger (I opted to supply my own power source) you only need to plug the charger into the port on the bottom of the light, yet the use of standard AA battery size means you can, if you forget to charge, purchase more batteries at nearly any store.

Thanks for the recommendation. I hadn't even considered that one. I forgot to mention that the secondary light will be attached to my front low-riders via a Paul Gino mount. Whatever I choose will end up being angled downward to brighten the area directly in front of the wheel.

Quick question: how wide is the Ixon bar clamp? I'm attaching it to a Paul Gino, and they're somewhat narrow.

On this page, in the comments, is a person who says he has one mounted, on a Gino, on his Surly. So, I'd say it will work.

How about a Supernova?
 

I have a Supernova E3 Pro on my Raleigh Sports commuter and couldn't be happier. It works with all types of dynamos including my vintage Sturmey dynamo hub and more modern Busch & Muller Dymotec S6 - you could replace both your lights. I added some quick connectors similar to the ones on a Minewt so that I can easily remove the light.
