OT request for dim leds.

One of my friends wants to make a small model house (about 8 x 14 or so) and wants to put some tiny lights in there. I was telling him about low power LEDs that could last a long time using battery power, and he wanted to know where he could buy some for his project. What's a better suggestion than Deal extreme?

leds cost pennies... try digikey - they deliver overnight.

Old reliable Radio Schlock (Shack) carries LEDs and you'll need resistors, (maybe variable if you want dimming) battery holders, switches, etc.. Basically, you need to hook an appropriately sized resistor in series with each LED to limit the current. You can reduce the brightness by increasing the resistance.

You can pick up 100 white LEDs with resistors for $10 including shipping on eBay. They'll probably come from China so they'll take a week or so to arrive.
