Great quality compared to some videos I've seen out there. No aliasing in the audio either:thumb: I've seen tons of GoPro and Contour videos where the audio was compressed too much and sounded like a cheap sampling keyboard from the '80s. Yours is perfect! I think those other users probably didn't check their settings before encoding. I always match my audio settings to the original raw file. Video I compress to 3000 kbps and either 720x480 16:9 widescreen (for the Kodak Playsport) or 640x480 4:3 standard (for the Casio EX-S12 digital camera). I lose minimal quality that way.

I do notice a black border around your videos though. I had the same border around my first one with the Playsport until Mr. Beanz told me to set the project to 16:9 widescreen in Windows Movie Maker 2011, which is what I use.

The black border might be due to Adobe Premiere Elements not having a dedicated 720p upload option, so I have to upload them at 1080p (as you can see, there's a 1080p playback option on the resulting clips). I sometimes use Windows Live Movie Maker, and also have Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD that I should try out sometime. I should also experiment with stabilization in both Premiere Elements and Vegas.

Makes sense:) Do you happen to know if Sony Vegas will let you make a sped-up video with the audio sped-up as well? Windows Movie Maker 2011 mutes the audio when you speed up the video, so I had to use music on two sped-up videos I made with it, even though I normally prefer to make my videos with original ride audio, no music (with a couple exceptions last winter). When I did a sped-up climb video on a friend's MacBook Pro, iMovie sped up the original audio as well, so it was hilarious to listen to:lol: Here's the video made with the Mac:

I'd take some pics of the handlebar mount but I have a new bike now, it's not on there yet. The video is shaky as hell, but it's sped up 8 (or just 4) times. Just imagine it 4 or 8 times smoother I guess haha :P Worried about the mount breaking then just toss the lanyard around the bars like I do, a built-in safety.

Nevermind, I'm hopeless on embedding videos.

EDIT: Deleted music videos from YouTube to prevent any copyright strikes. 3 strikes and you're out according to YouTube. I have a clean record and would like to keep it that way.

For embedding, click on the little icon that looks like a piece of film. It's just to the right of the "Insert Image" icon.

Your bike trail looks a lot like ours. I'll be riding on it in the next couple hours. I love sped-up videos:thumb:

There are now "keychain cameras" as low as $10.

Here's a sample video from one. It has the wavy picture problem where the scene being filmed moves faster than the scan within one frame. Still, it's really cheap, and these will probably get better soon.

ouch... have you tried flushing off the mud with water? that should flush away the mud without any harm... wiping would tend to grind it in.

That would be the best way, but I'd be doing that every few minutes on a muddy off-road ride, particularly if the camera's on the bike rather than the helmet.

On a related note, I'm trying out Adobe Premiere Elements' "stabilizer" filter. 3 hours left to render just the first clip, and that's with a Sandy Bridge i5 quad-core and 16GB of RAM... yikes :(

You know they have different versions of those, and the #3 being the best quality of them all. I think there are 9 different ones out. A lot of people out there are selling the crap versions.. if you go here http://www.themicrocamera.com/ they only sell the #3 and also have an HD version that just came out. I'll post video later today of mine.

get a small squirt-bottle. i've got a 100ml squirt bottle from an ambulance that was originally full of saline. something like that would be perfect.

All the telemetry info superimposed on the video comes from my Garmin 500 cyclocomputer. Data is exported into a file which is read by an application I wrote which then generates telemetry footage. This footage is synced to, and superimposed on, the ride video. There is much more info on the GPS such as Heart Rate, Cadence, Power output, etc., which can also be displayed on the video but I chose to display mostly the non-personal stuff.

I'm also using a #3 keychain camera. I just decided that after 24,000 miles with no incidents, I couldn't justify spending much. 'Course, then last week I did have an incident, but it was in the near-dark and wouldn't have been captured on camera anyway.

I've been researching the GoPro and Contour as well as the Oregon Scientific ATC9K. My friend has a GoPro and has no problems. The video quality on the cameras are fairly similar, though the GoPro comes with the waterproof shell but you have to buy the Contour waterproof shell separately. I've noticed the codecs are both H.264 but the GoPro uses .mp4 container and Contour uses .mov. It's getting a bit technical - .mp4 has more tagging options than .mov - but I think at that point it's just personal preference.

Of course they put @#$% music over the ENTIRE video, so potential customers can't evaluate the audio quality of the camera. That's a red flag to me.

I don't know why people feel that they have to put sound tracks over everything. Ah well, there's always the mute button.

I only use music when there's no other choice. Like when rain got in the mic hole of my "waterproof" camera during a rainy ride and made the audio sound like crap. Or the times I've made sped-up videos with Windows Movie Maker 2011, which mutes the audio when you speed up the video. Other than that, raw video rules!
