Nebo Redline flashlight
Has anyone used the Nebo Redline flashlight as a headlight? Seems like a good deal...220 lumens, flood to spot, has strobe mode, long run tim, under $25 on amazon. I would use it with Sanyo eneloop rechargeables.

I have no idea about the light in the link, but I have used flashlights for several years now, and would recommend something from Shining Beam if you are on a tight budget. His lights have newer and more powerful emitters, so you'll get a brighter light for the same price.
Here are his AA lights. http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/t...-AA/Categories EDIT: I also don't believe the claim of four hours on @ 220 lumens on three AAA batteries. That's simply not possible. |
I bought this exact flashlight on a whim at my local Ace store right before I started winter commuting last fall. Awesome light. The battery life is pretty impressive, as well.

I have this exact light. I have yet to use it on my bike, but I think it is probably brighter than Planet Bike Beam 1 watt. It is definitely brighter than the 1/2 watt. I might attach it to my bike but so far, as a flashlight, it has been just great. Very bright and small. And cheap. I like mine.

I bought one of these last year from my local Batteries Plus store. They were rebuilding the rechargeable battery that I use as a primary and I saw that one. I bought it as a backup light and liked it so well that I sometimes use it as a primary. I bought a "two fish" mount and like to use it on strobe mode. It runs on 3 "AAA" batteries and has a decent run time even on high settings. I paid $29.00 for mine. It's a deal at $25.00. http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/thumb.gifGo for it.

Almost as bright as my Magicchsine
Bought it at Ace a week ago for $25. Had it out last night. I'd say it just slightly below my Magicshine in brightness and definitely better than my Lowe's cree 2 D size flashlight. I love the adjustable flood-to-spot focus. Also like the light ring around the head--adds to side visibility. Don' know the run time on high although the packaging says 4 hours. The strobe flashes at 220 lumens for 72 hours according to the manufactuer. I use it in conjunction with my Magicshine--really lights up the road!
