I think that was me that posted that they started shipping 5/3. It's on the website.

I have not received a new battery pack yet.

From the Geoman website:
Began shipping replacement batteries on 5/3/2011. Replacement battery packs in phases as our sales can support the recall process.
Apparently they are linking "our sales" to "support the recall process."

Interesting use of "lawyer-speak."

I won't go there - too many easy shots to take. Thanks for the link.

What's the problem with that?

Geoman is trying to do the right thing, and is getting a ton of flack about it. I just don't understand why.

20,000 battery packs to replace? At a replacement cost for the batteries, the shipping and handling etc. of maybe $50.00 = 1 million dollars.

Who is going to come up with that kind of money? The Chinese?

I am with Ziemas...Geoman is TRYING to do the right thing. All you half-empty naysayers can look at the situation as you like, but I will continue to hold out hope.

I went to their website, completed a lot of information, and then printed out a mailing label with barcode. You also are supposed to print out a label with a warning that the package contain hazardous material. Now I have to find a box, go to the Post Office, and pay a assume a premium to mail back this package. It's a pain.

If Geoman wanted to do the right thing, they could send me an email asking if I want a new battery and just ship it to me. Why should I have to go through time and expense to send the old batteries back?

I wasn't trying to start a "popularity" contest about bicycle parts companies, I just wanted to know if anyone has received a battery through the recall process. Like most consumer activities that involve the Internet and or mailing or shipping processes - I'm one of those people who always expects problems.

Having consumers discard working batteries without assurance of a time-frame for replacement can result in internet message boards containing threads like this. It's no different than massive longer-term rebate programs or automotive safety recalls. People talk about the situation.

Geoman is doing the right thing, but personally I'm keeping my 1st gen battery, seems to be working just fine and when I need a new one I will get one of the newer models with lcd readout.. I just can't believe the amount of whining about this light, it is a sub $100 light. If this were a $400.00 Niterider maybe there would be more room for complaining.

I turned mine in to the recycling center at Home Depot and I think I should have kept them as they were doing just fine. I guess I will need to buy new batteries now. I don't want to wait for ever to get the replacements.

I'm not sure if they bought them or got them from the recall. I did see that recall batteries have been shipped. Read the threads for more info. I'm sure you know where they are.

Regardless of how long it takes, why not send in the paperwork? I mean, what's the sense in saying "they're going to send me a new battery for free but if it takes more than 3 weeks then I don't want it"? Planning on giving up riding in a few weeks? What do you have to lose?

Mine was bought when I ordered a new lightset with the GMG battery. I have not known of any others who have received a battery as a replacement of the old battery. There are other who has the newer style battery but I'm not sure if they were replacement or bought brand new. Speaking of the GMG battery, I have another set coming to me soon because I just bought another set from them. I figure I needed two battery to use while I send out my two old packs back to them.

Those threads were started by people who purchased the new GeoManGear battery pack. They may be same battery packs, but they were not received as part of the recall process.
