Magicshine P7 Light to XML Flashlight Comparison - video with Beamshots
Here is video of some beamshots comparing a P7 light - Magicshine p7 to XML Flashlight
All the flashlights are single cell 18650 flashlights, the magicshine P7 is 1st gen light but very indicative of illumination of models that followed it.. If the MS light is in the 500-600 lumen range, I would say the XML's are in 700-800 range for output. I've only seen one XML that can put out a 1000 lumens but it costs $150.00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF0g2lX8WEE Video 2 is XML and MS P7 in High & medium modes only: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5A0Z...el_video_title If you have any questions please leave message.. The XML's on high mode give about 45 minutes with medium mode kicking for another 30 minutes of useable light.. The medium mode is right on par with the MS light output but light is more directed and not as floody. In medium mode you get 90-110 minutes depending on what cells you are using. I am using Ultrafire 3000mah and Japanese UF 2600 mah cells.. |
Yep, XML kicks butt.

I thought i got a new "xm-l" light - it has the green/blue/amber/red button light but doesn't appear much different from my old lights.
Am I having a brain fart? I thought if the light had the new "button" reg it was xm-l? |

Here is a pic of the P7 emitter on the left - and XML on the right..

Yeah - didn't pay attention - I confused the copy on Geoman and didn't read the details - I figured "new" was "new XM-L" -at least I got free shipping......

I recently got a couple of Magicshine P7 lightheads (only) from Geoman and a Magicshine XML lightset from DX.
Subjective comparisons show the XML emitter does provide more light output. In my case, the colour temperature of the XML emitter is more pleasing (warmer). The XML also provides a wider spot making it a bit better vehicle light. This latter observation may not be significant however. The flash geometry could be different or the emitter could simply be more displaced from the focal point of the flash. |
