Mounting of the light
There seems to be a recurring issue and questions about appropriate mounts for particular lights. I am wondering if a thread dealing with mounts would be useful. It would be a place to consolidate the answers to many questions.

I have an Ultrafire P7 flashlight that I would like a new mount for my Surly LHT. Any good ideas? Something that does not rattle would be great.

Twofish lockblock with O-ring mounts to cinch down the flashlight. Or just manufacture your own twofish style mount out of some foam. Carve out reliefs for the handlebars and the flashlight and secure with O-rings.

Lockblocks work fine for me.. When you get into bigger 2x18650 cell lights you need something like the fenix mount, which is more stable but a little on the bulky side.. They do fit fine on 26.0 and 31.8 bars.. Make sure to get the 2nd edition which is linked below.. The original fenix mount was very poor.

I dont use the Surefire in question, but these work great imo...and are quite secure for my four 2.7cm LED flashlights:

I use strips on inner tubes as a base as well as "O rings." They will work on anything - but of course they aren't "cool." I also tried the rock block but did not like it as well. I can position a light more easily with my home made rubber bands than ayn store bought mount.
The key is to put a rubber band on the light as well - so you have rubber pivoting on rubber -I can't see why you need anything else. |
