Two Fish Flashlight Mount Question.....

I'm going to buy the two fish flashlight holder but have a few questions. First will I be able to easily take the flashlight off the mount? I live in a high crime area so this is necessary. Also what is a cheap flashlight I could get to mount? I'm assuming it will be cheaper than buying PlanetBike headlights or something bike specific.

There is a video at this link http://www.fenixtactical.com/twofish...ght-mount.html Even though I do not have the mount , it looks like it's very easy to remove if needed.

Very easy to remove: velcro loosen and pull.

Twofish, very fast and easy to take on and off.. How cheap of a light and what kind of batteries do you prefer using?

This is a good light to start with. High - low and slow flashing modes.. right at 200 lumens.. Big ++ are you adjust the beam to your liking, it goes from full flood to tight spot.. It uses a variety of battery types..18650/17670, 2 x CR123A, 3 x AAA batteries

Two fish lock blocks are brilliant - easy to remove. I use mine with a Fenix L2D flashlight :)

If using anything fatter than a 2AA light, I prefer the stronger Cycle Block over the LockBlock. The straps are far stronger and somewhat wider, so you can snug the bar strap very tight so it doesn't drift out of position.

I see Performance has a sale on the Viewpoint 5LED headlight for $14 normally $25. Anyone know if these are any good. I heard they are Planet Bike knockoff type of lights.

I have the cycle block, and I have to say I am somewhat unimpressed by the size of it. I was thinking it would be larger, but it isn't. I also wonder which end goes against the handlebars, as it might seem like the larger side might, but I use the larger side for larger lights. I am thinking that the block isn't really meant for 31.5mm handlebars.

I guess it can fit up to D sized lights, like a 1xD mag but it is very easy to take off if needed. Loosen velco and pull. When you are thinking of a light for this, I highly recommend only 1 cell lights to have a more integrated look on the handlebars.

If you want to see where you're going, you should look at the one socalrider mentioned above.

I already have a CatEyes light so I intend to use both. I'm replacing a 1watt Planet Bike light that was stolen while I ran in the store to grab beer. 5min and it was gone. Luckily, I had my bike locked.

I use lockblocks on 31.8 bars with no issues.. They are not made to be used with d cell sized flashlights. If you are using a maglite, you are way behind in light technology. Look at the wide variety of 18650 lights available that are 5x-10x brighter than a maglite and much smaller size..

A light like this is more for being seen than seeing.. a 5 nichia led light is probably putting out 20-30 lumens at the most. If you see super long runtimes using aaa cells. you are using a underpowered light.

Which end do you stick down to the handlebar with the cycle block? The smaller end or the bigger end?

No I am not using a maglite, but considering switching up to a 26650 cell which is almost sized a little bigger than a C-cell, but factoring in the body diameter, it would be about D-cell diameter.

socalrider 08-21-11 02:46 AM

for 31.8 bars I use the larger end on the bars and smaller for the lights. All of my lights are single cell 18650 lights.

8Fishes 08-21-11 11:17 AM

That makes sense, I know my 18650 seats nicely on the smaller end.
Can't want to get the new light to see how it fits :D

davidad 08-21-11 02:33 PM

I put a piece of tape under mine. When it gets wet the light pivots easily.

I ordered my lockblock and lights from foursevens. The best light I've used so far is the Quark AA2 Tactical using rechargeable batteries. Here is the linky: http://www.4sevens.com/product_info....oducts_id=1656
