I don't like the O-ring mounts - looking for headlight alternative
I have the Nite Rider X2 dual system. Great lights, but I can't deal with the O-ring mounts. On problem is that the light moves when I hit a big pothole, but the bigger issue is putting them on the bar, especially in winter.
I dislike like them so much that I am going to sell them. Looking at a NiteRider 1500 Race, which looks like it has a clip-on mount, any other suggestions?
Also like the idea of a single, self-contained headlight like the Cygolite 600. I need to remove my light when I go in to work. Not having to fiddle with battery packs and O-rings when I leave would be nice!

Commander, UFO Bike
My solution to the rotating problem that I had with the MiNewt X2's that I have was Blu-tack poster putty. A small amount of that on the underside of the mount (then use the O-ring as I normally would), and my issues were over. I remove my lights daily when I'm commuting, and haven't had a problem with the stuff losing grip over time. If it ever did, I've still got plenty of putty to replace it with.
I can't speak about the NR 1500, but I have a NR MiNewt 600 Cordless, and it uses a mount that stays with the bike. I haven't had any problems with it rotating.

Thanks. The MiNewt 600 cordless looks interesting. Right now I'm leaning toward the Philips SafeRide, unless someone talks me out of it!

One benefit to an O-ring mount is in an accident they rotate on the bar where a fixed mount would break. But you sure don't want it to rotate when you are using it.

Trying to get the O-rings into the little slots when it is 20° F out is the biggest issue. Don't want to do that for another winter...
Looks like the RideSafe is self-contained. Wish I could try it before I buy it, though.

Oh, sorry. I forgot to mention that this is my commuter bike. I have to remove them and put them back on every day because the bike sits in an unsecure area (parking garage). The rings fit and hold OK, except big bumps.
