Google Maps and Google Earth quandries
So Google maps now has a "3D" thing were you can watch an aerial view of a route you have mapped out. Google Earth has something similar with the "play tour" option. The Google Earth tour is (IMO) better because it's a little more zoomed in and has more detail and control over how you view. But as far as I can tell, you can't do bicycle directions on Google Earth. Anybody know of a way to do bike directions on GE or how to transfer a map from maps to earth?
An also, what's up with Google maps not having a share button at the top right hand corner anymore? |
You can export a route from GMaps as KML by copying the link for the map and pasting it into a browser's URL bar with "&output=kml" appended to it. GEarth, of course, knows how to open KML files.
Google moved some of the options that used to be in the upper-right of the map to the space above the route directions (i.e., the part that's not visible if you've expanded the map to fill the width of the browser window). |

Thanks for the info on how to export files. I'll see if I can get it to work. |
Nevermind, the sharing thing is now hidden in the link button. You click on link and then you have to click on "send".
