battery-less light question
whats a good bike light that is battery-less such as a GENERATOR or something like that
also it has to be water proof or resistant because i live in Tacoma Washington and it rains a lot thanks |
Do a bit of reading, then come back should you still have questions.

The Peter White link is a good one to start with.
Though I've read some good things about the Lyt, I'd personally start with something about the level of an IQ Cyo for a headlight. You can get a bottle generator (try yellowjersey.org) to start with for about $25. Lots of people end up with a dynamo hub. With a bit of inter/web shopping, you can find a wheel with a Sanyo dyno hub for a bit over $100, up to a Schmidt SON hub wheel for $400. (Well worth it if you can afford it, IMHO.) |
Does anyone make a bottom bracket dynamo?

Have been using SON hub dynamos several years , now .
good stuff. Their E6 halogen light and B&M 4D taillights on the rear rack. Pondering their Edelux LED headlight , and then the others will go up for sale. though still satisfactorily good focused light.. got a E6 secondary light , too, I have never used. Dual lamps are the Brevet racers favorite to ride into the the night back to Paris from Brest. light enough do downhill and not outrun your lights. |
