Decide for me

I am going to purchase a Garmin 500 bundle (head unit, HRM, and cadence sensor), but I am on the fence when it comes to a certain particular. I ride a Trek 2.3 shown below in red and black (now minus the bag, the Trek computer and cord, and 2 of the spacers). My quandry is whether to purchase a Garmin refurb bundle in the neutral color which I can get for $270, or get a new, non-refurb model in red and black for $315. I know I am entering OCD poseur land with this, but I think the red and black will look pretty cool with my bike. On the other hand I am paying $45 for looks only.

I know, wrong side and everything else but it's the only one I have at work.

$315 brand new:

$270 Refurb:

Sway me either way.

I know but for some reason the tight wad in me says save the 45 bucks, lol

I was about 2 seconds away from hittin' the button on the gray one when I saw the red model. It would look damn good, though!

What's the warranty like on the refurb? having had a new Garmin HRM fail a few weeks before it's year long warranty expired, would go for the one which gives you longest cover.

Get the gray one. It will still look good when you upgrade your red Trek to something nice.

The refurb warranty is a year long also, and is from Garmin, so to me it just boils down to the price difference. I'll probably end up going red, but who knows

I bought mine HERE in 2009. I have the blue one. I don't really notice the blue on my white-with-red-accent bike. Save your $.

You are a wise man and I agree with that.

That said, every other day my 5 y.o. (who fortunately hasn't yet been jaded by Roadies, Freds, MUPs, or GPS, yadda yadda yadda...) and I have a blast tooling around our MUP. We enjoy the nature, ourselves, and there are no electronics to be found.
