Garmin 810- ANT+ speed and HRM suggestions

Greetings,

Just purchased a 810. Looking for suggestions for ANT+ speed sensor besides Garmin brand. Any suggestions from experience? Also, do you have to use the Garmin HRM? I have a polar wearlink coded but from what I have read this cannot be used with the 810. Want to make sure before I shell out for a Garmin sender.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Marc

Why no on the Garmin brand sensors? I bought the 510 Performance bundle and both sensors work perfectly.

I already have a Polar HRM sender and strap. Noticed some other ANT+ senders for speed that looked a little better in terms of mounting.

I suggest using the new Garmin magnet-less accelerometer based sensors. The speed sensor fastens to the wheel hub with an o-ring and the cadence sensor fastens to the crank arm with an o-ring. There are no magnets to deal with.

For HR strap, I recommend the original Garmin hard strap. I find no benefit to the so-called deluxe soft straps and they do tend to have more issues. Rub some water or spit into the contacts before donning to ensure good electical connection before you start sweating. Also, with HR straps and dry cold wx, static from flapping synthetic jerseys or jackets can sometimes cause erroneously high readings. Ignore the readings or don't wear loose flapping apparel.
