looking to invest in lights
So i have been riding before at night and borrowed some lights. I love it. So now i am looking to buy a pair for myself. There are so many out there i am having troubles finding the right set. How many lumens are needed to have a nice set that would be bright enough? any ideas would help thanks.

Journey has great 'Lights'!!!! As for biking, this site:http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/index.html; was mentioned to me a couple days ago. Since I am looking for a good headlight.

How much do you want to spend? Dynamo powered or battery powered? On-road or off-road riding? Helps to have some context.
For commuting and Audax rides I currently use a set of DiNottee 400L lights on the front. The work great for me but without knowing more about your context it is hard to say if they would work for you. http://www.aushiker.com/wordpress/wp...9/IMG_1132.jpg Regards Andrew |
looking for lights for off road. I was thinking of at least getting a 350 lumens. i was looking at the 350 niteriders. they have a battery one or a cordless. Do you know how the cordless ones rate. Was hoping to not sped more than 300, just dont want to be disappointed on them.

Thanks for the website i enjoyed reading up on the lights. I will check out Journey. i am really wondering whats the least amount of lumens i should go without being disappointed.

mtbr.com has a great night riding and lights section. They would laugh at 350 lumens for trail riding and figure you had a death wish.

Check out socalriders collection. At first I thought you were him, and was wondering if there was one he doesn't have already. :thumb:

I have dinotte, nightrider, magicshine, and planetbike battery powered lights. I have B&M dynamo powered lights. Dinotte is my favorite and most reliable of the battery powered lights. The B&M are great on my commuter.

This one has served me well:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._ya_os_product I'm in Irvine if you want to come see it during a night ride. Lasts about 1:30 on high. |
Great thanks this is helping me i dont want to be disappointed

thanks

Thanks to everyone I went am going do to my local bike shop today to look at a few brands that are above 450 lumens
|
It's a up front investment, but a Schmidt hub Dynamo and Edelux LED headlight,
and a wired Busch and Muller taillight needs nothing more than pedaling the bike to make sufficient light. my ride, a few miles , sometimes in quite heavy rain.. |
So i went out and bought the 600 niteriders. the local shop gave me a deal i couldnt pass up on them. Tried them last night. Love them. Thanks for helping stay away from lower lumens.
