Garmin Cadence sensor question
 

I have been riding a hybrid road bike for awhile now and have enjoyed my cadence sensor. Yesturday I purchased a new bike and my hybrid is going to become a dedicated family rider. I have no reason to keep my cadence sensor on there so I would like to switch it to my new bike instead of just purchasing a new one. I am just curious if I will be able to move the magnet from the pedal or if I will have a problem from the adhesive pad?

You should be able to purchase a magnet at LBS/amazon/ebay or elsewhere for a couple of bucks.

You probably won't have any issues but my suggestion would be not to re-use it at all. You can get a small but very strong magnet that is round and flat (looks like a watch battery with about a 1/4'' diameter from any hobby store for a couple bucks. Take one or two of them and stick them them to the end of your pedal axle on the inside of your crank arm. Position your cadence sensor a little farther back on the chain stay than you would if you were using the strap in order to match the new magnet position. This works just as well, looks cleaner, and you never have to worry about bumping the strap with your foot. The magnet should magnetize to your steel pedal spindle, but if it doesn't for some reason, a little glue will keep it there just fine. This, however, usually isn't necessary.

That is a great idea, nice! I hate the look of my garmin magnet on my pedal crank, plus it seems to move around a bit as I've had more than my share of soaking rides, this might just be the fix.

Get a Rare Earth magnet and stick it to you pedal axle. It will never come off. All different sizes available on eBay

or Ace HW! Sometimes our cadence magnet decides to depart the pedal spindle and attach to the chainstay (steel frame). Only happens once/month or so. Cleanest way to get cadence.
