yes it is similar to magicshine which many of us have been using for 3 years now.. There are some us based or possibly canadian sellers that sell the same thing for a little more money and possibly better customer service if there is an issue.

1800 lumen from an XML T6 is greatly exaggerated. However, that would still put out very usable light - in fact, the highest mode would probably blind drivers so save it for dark deserted roads. The biggest concern with cheaper kits would be quality of the battery pack (is it using protected cells?) and the construction of the circuit board (does the LED have adequate heat-sinking?).

With lithium-ion lights, I recommend keeping a backup as the battery will cut out with little warning when it gets low. My 800 (actual) lumen light will go dim for 5 minutes and then it's done; not a lot of warning.

CREE is the brand of diode and 95% of the LED flashlights user CREE diodes. Don't buy random crap from ebay. There are thousands of lights out there and most of them are total crap. Check out budgetlightforum.com for reviews and first hand experience with torches. You'll find good advice and will be able to purchase an inexpensive torch or Magicshine style light that is of reasonable quality. Don't throw your money away.
