Specialized PreView Xe headlight replacement bulb?
Hey all.
Seems Specialized has been out of the light business for a while and I haven't located a source in the U.S. for new bulbs. According to the owner's guide that came with the light, I'm supposed to only use a 4.7 volt 0.4A Xenon bulb. While searching the web I read that later versions of the VistaLite Road Toad have a similar internal design, and I did find replacement bulbs for that light: http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?id=21841 Question is, can I use those in a PreView Xe? If not, do any of you know where I can get the correct bulbs or maybe something better? Not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using AA NiMH rechargeable batteries. |
Check out the codes against the Specialized on this site and see if you can find anything online.

You may be able to get an LED bulb for it. They are made for Regular flashlights. Something like this: http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...r2-3whp-x/638/

Thanks for the replies.
Checked reflectalite.com and haven't found an equivalent to their GH157 in the U.S. The Road Toad bulb is the closest I've seen. I like the idea of a LED conversion, but the all-plastic construction of the PreView Xe would probably make a swap problematic. For the cost of the bulb linked above I might be better off trying a cheap Cree AA flashlight. I have 2 of these Specialized lights and they've held up well over the years. I'm still open to ideas for getting more life out of them. |
