Attach a droid bionic

Can one of you crafty folks suggest a way to strap my new Droid Bionic to my handle bars? I was thinking of using an otterbox case:

But don't know what would be the best way to attach it.

The battery life is already bad, running the GPS, modem and screen are going to kill the phone. You are better off leaving it in pocket with the screen off if you are going to use it. Or end up like me with a dead phone and no way to make calls. That is why I have a phone and an edge 500 now . Phone for calls. If you can afford a bionic you can afford an edge 300 or 500.

actually battery life is good for me, root and remove bloatware, does marvels + Extended battery for the ride, golden. I'd like to see live stats on sportypal or other apps, if I have 1 device that does the job, why go piss off more money on something I don't need. bionic does what I need - "just cause I can afford it", nice assumption. That's one silly way to look at things "ahh you have money, go piss it off... "

any other takers? someone has done some rigging of a cell phone before....

Battery life may be good if you leave the screen turned off, but what is the point of mounting the thing on your bike if the screen is blank? I guarantee you that leaving the screen on continuously will kill your battery in less time than than most of my bike rides.

For my Fascinate I found a very similar mount on ebay (for another Samsung Galaxy S model on another carrier) and then spent a minute with a dremel making it about 2mm wider and it works great. It's not very low profile (it sticks up a ways) but I've taken it for trail rides on my mtn bike and never had an issue).

It may take you a few minutes of looking around on ebay for a mount that is really close to your phone (go for slightly smaller if not exactly the same dimensions).

Before I bought that mount and made it work I would take my armband and wrap it around my stem a few times before securing it with the velcro. That worked pretty well too but having the thin clear cover over the screen was annoying when I wanted to access the phone when stopped...never really tried it while riding...on the bike mount one the screen isn't protected.

I use a small pouch mounted just in front of the stem mounted on the bar.

You can put a booster battery inside, its weather proof, and the touch screen works. With the booster you can ride 100 miles and still have power left running full screen on, mp3 playing, full gps.

My Otterbox came with a snap-in "outer case" with a belt clip. I ran two large zip-ties through the belt clip portion and attached it as shown. The standard case's snap-in attachment to the belt-clipped outer case is extremely stout and I've had it stay put through hard hits. I did this as it was the only way for my Bluetooth audio to not drop out. Backpack and pocket didn't cut it. Watching movies not recommended!

(Mirror got rotated 180* and the stem cut down!)

Most commercially-available phone mounts are weaksauce, just waiting to throw your phone under your wheels.

I'm a little late to the party, but I have a Droid Razr Maxx and I too wanted to mount it to my bike. Like the above poster, I have an Otterbox Defender that came with a belt clip. I considered jury rigging it until a friend of mine clued me into Slip Grip.

Just select your phone and case type (if any) and they've probably got a mount for you.

I've used a Slip Grip mount for my Bionic since mid 2012 and have been very happy with it. It can be oriented vertically or horizontally and holds the phone well. Fits the phone like a charm and the vice attaches to the stem perfectly. I'm considering picking up a second for my mountain bike.
