I'm confused, that's the price my LBS charges. Is it US-only (I'm in Canada)? or could it be that you just see the discount price at checkout?

I attempted to check out the discounted prices for myself. Added an Edge 800 to the cart and headed for checkout. I was prompted to either create/register/sign in to a Garmin account or use any number of social media sign ons- facebook, google, others...- to create one. No option to check out as a 'Guest' and I'm not handing out my email and/or contact list just to see what the discount is (assuming the sale is still going on).

The $275 for the brand-new 810 seems seriously bogus. Some places are selling the 800 for $309+ (on close-out) and garmin HAD a $100 rebate on it too.

You should sue them for false advertising.

It is my opinion, having suffered a GPSMap76cs since it was cutting edge, that Garmin is changing their marketing to selling their captive software/data updates. Similar to inkjet printer purveyors nearly giving the machines away to force purchase of proprietary cartridges.

Garmin's security has become continuously more turgid with each iteration.

Last noticed, Garmin does not support linux flavored OS's.

I'm using my new Garmin 800 with linux. Granted, I don't use their software at all, just load open feits maps and routes generated on ridewithgps. Pretty sure if I cared to download my data, that wouldn't be too hard either
