Note 3 already has ant+. Samsung just failed to mention the fact and media didn't realise. http://www.thisisant.com/directory/galaxy-note-3

prefer ant+ over ble because you already have the hardware? Or is it multicast support or else wise? I'm asking because I'm not aware of the critical differences.

This is what I need. Did iPBike give you that display? Where did the numbers come from?

My external charger arrived so my setup is complete. My approach is everything's as cheap as possible while serving function. Last photo is waterproofing using crumpled sandwich bag cut to size.

Is that cross bar pack a battery supply? Are you using an ANT+ receiver or low power Bluetooth? If so, how do you do it? I figure you either plug in the power OR the sensor. It isn't a problem with me because I never ride longer than 2-1/2 hours and that only uses around 40% of my battery supply on my Galaxy S4.

if that is a gs4 AND he has the right update it does have ant+ built in... the GS5 is rumored to be out early next year and if it has ant+ I'll likely upgrade at that point... I wish it was something more phones had... although with the new bluetooth LE protocol it may put a hurt on future ant+ integration... time will tell

its a galaxy nexus modded for bt4 since Google in their wisdom disabled it. Using topeak sensors. The external charger is a 3x18650 which can take 1-3 individually, enb brand from fast-tech.com. Two genuine Samsung 3000mah batteries and the external for less than $20.
by my testing I used to get varied battery life by operation. Bought the phone used so the 1850mah battery likely came degraded. I'd get only 2 hours with screen full brightness in daylight with those mapping apps overlayed with draining white backgrounds for the amoled. To divide the power up if the 1850mah was actually 1850mah it works about. 900mah daylight navigation. 600mah daylight no navigation. 450mah night navigation. 300mah no navigation. The idea being that i can use it for long distance riding. |

UPDATE: I finally got 4.3 to install on my S4 and it indeed works with iPBike without the dongle. Woo hoo!:thumb: Thanks, Rich |
sorry ant+ for s3 was incorrectly reported. No ant+ it seems

I have a Galaxy S4 international with finally the 4.3 update.
I also have an Ant+garmin hrm and a Polar H7 ble hrm. I thought I would see how different they are so on a spin class yesterday My max hr with The Garmin ant+ was 140 with an average 100 this was using Endomondo Previously same class using icardio and polar regularly my figures have been Max 169 and average 149 these figures have been consistent pretty much. I notice Ant+ refresh doesn't seem real time whereas the Polar is constantly changing figures. I wonder if its a ant+issue or if anyone else has the same lags with ant+. I had a zepyr hxm that behaved the same as the Polar so think the Garmin is a bit off... The Polar has t13 support and behaves the same with gym equipment |
ANT+ Enabler for Nexus 5 & 10, HTC One and LG G2 phone
More phones added support for ANT+, root is required though.

Well, it looks like I've got my Saturday work lined up. I was already planning on rooting my Droid 4 (prepping for upcoming KitKat custom Roms), and Asus TF700 (KitKat also), and I don't have any hope of ANT+ with those 2 devices other than the USB OTG cable. But I do have a Nexus 5 which I love, and having it for my ANT+ device rather than my HTC Rhyme would be nice. Hopefully I'll be able to report success after Sunday's ride.

30 miles of riding today, and this solution worked perfectly. As an added bonus, the Nexus devices are extremely easy to unlock, root, unroot and relock (if desired). I did forget to set my max heart rate in Ipbike, so seeing 182% of max heart rate was an issue when I glanced down-thats an id10t problem I believe.

I know this thread is semi-old, but I figured I would ask the question here, anyway. I have the Samsung Note 2 phone and use MapMyRide. I have wanted to add a heart rate monitor for a while now, but I cannot, for the life of me, find any sites via Google that say if the Note 2 has ANT+ or not. This thread mentioned once or twice that this would be coming (way back in 2013 it was said) but I can't seem to find out definitively if my phone would work with an ANT+ or I think Blutooth Smart is another one?

THIS IS ANT - Directory This indicates that ANT+ will be enabled for the S4 and Note 3. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/10/s...e-devices.html BTLE (Bluetooth Smart) should work. (Or an ANT+ dongle.) |
I've been using the IpBike with the SGS3 as well, mounted using RokForm mount, which is pretty nice, quarter turn quick connect, with some helpful rear earth magnet alignment support. It can be mounted in both landscape or portrait mode. Used dongle with OTC alone as well as Y configuration with external battery. Recently I got the Viiiiva HRM, which is not only BLT and ANT+, but it also has bringing capability. After I set the bridge with my wife's iPhone, I can now use Garmin speed/cadence ANT+ sensor, have the HRM transpond the data into BLE, combine it with the HRM in BLE mode, and use the SGS3 without any dongle at all (with the IpBike app). I am very happy with the arrangement.

Products - Viiiiva | 4iiii http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/07/v...th-bridge.html $80. That's not much more than a BTLE only HR strap. |
